What will my Paint By Number Kit contain?
Custom Grisaille Paint Kits
Almost anything can be painted with the Grisaille kit.
People, landscapes, pets, travel photos.
People shouldn't be
such a small component of the image that details are too
tiny to paint

The quality of your art canvas reflects the quality of your
original photo so of course you'll want the photo to be in
focus and properly exposed. Extremely dark or light
photos should not be used. Photos with a lot of dark
shadows should be avoided. Copyrighted photos can
not be used without the photographer's consent.
If you're uncertain as to whether or not an image will
work well - email it to us and we will take a look and let
you know.
Traditional PBN Kits
Portraits of people can be done as traditional PBN paintings.
Close-up shots of people work best. You'll need to limit the
number of people in the finished artwork to
one on an 8 x
10, one or
two people on the 11 x 14 and up to three on the
16 x 20
or 18 x 24.

What kind of subjects work best for a Paint By Number painting?
What size photo should I send?

Digital images should be at least 200dpi, 5" x 7" (1000 x 1400), and saved as a .jpeg.  Don't send images printed on an inkjet
printer or copies of these images
- Send the original digital file. Please contact us if you need further instruction or help
sending the file.

If you are using a digital camera to take a photo
, you can ensure that the image is large enough by selecting one of the middle
choices you have regarding how many images will fit on your memory card/stick. Don't use the setting that fits the most images
on the card- the resulting image will be too small.

Images sent through the mail can be slides, 35mm negatives(clearly state which frame you want us to use) or regular
photographic prints
(not inkjet prints) of any size, from wallet up to 8-1/2" x 11". Do not send copyrighted photos (professional
photos - look on the back for the copyright mark). All photo material will be safely returned to you along with your kit.

How do I send you my photo?
You can attach a digital image to an email or send it by mail. To ensure that your photo isn't damaged in the mail, include a piece
of stiff cardboard the same size as the envelope. Check out the
'How to Order' page for specific information.

Will the entire photo be depicted on the canvas?
Depending on the size and shape of the photo it may need to be cropped to so that the image will fit into the dimensions of the
canvas. Additionally, our experienced graphic artists will straighten, color balance and arrange and crop the image to give you the
best artwork possible. Let us know about any specific concerns you have.

Can you crop things/people out of  the photo I send?
Yes. Explain how you would like the image cropped or what it is that you want eliminated.

Can I  paint one of these? Is it easy?
Yes, you probably can paint one. It doesn't take any special skills or experience to paint by number, save the ability to read and
follow directions. If you remember back to your days of coloring books and can stay within the lines - you can do this.
Easy? Well some of it is easy to paint. Every canvas has some small details that are necessary for a good painting. We don't
recommend our kits for young children Click here to check out the
PBN details page.

What does the Stretcher bar kit contain? Is it difficult to assemble?
(Stretcher bars are used to mount the cotton fabric canvas - Artpaper if framed like any print)
It is not difficult to assemble. If you can hammer a nail without hurting yourself, you can do it. To assemble it you will need:
a hammer, pliers, heavy-duty stapler, and an extra set of hands.
If you are not up to doing it yourself, most frame shops will stretch canvas, albeit at a higher price.
The kit contains:
Four stretcher bars with mitered edges, eight wooden keys for adjusting the frame, two screw eyes, a length of picture wire and
easy to follow instructions.
Stretcher bar kits add about $3.50 to the shipping charges.

Can I pay with my credit card?
Yes, you can use our secure server to order using either Visa or Master Card. We also accept checks or money orders if you'd
rather do that.
See the
Order Page for the particulars.
